The volume is dedicated to the memory of Prof. Leni Yahil, one of the most influential scholars of the Holocaust, who also served as a member of the editorial board for many years, and of Dr. Jean Ancel, one of the world’s leading scholars on the Holocaust in Romania. The volume opens with articles analyzing their contributions to the field (Dan Michman and Sarit Shavit on Yahil; Yosef Govrin on Ancel). The volume includes a section on postwar attitudes towards the Holocaust, with articles that address Orthodox women in DP camps (Judith Baumel-Schwartz), the World Jewish Congress and war crimes trials (Mark A. Lewis), Ben-Gurion and the Eichmann trial (Yehiam Weitz), and Italian Holocaust consciousness after the war (Guri Schwarz). Two articles, by French and Belgian scholars, address Nazi policy-making in the Holocaust (Florent Brayard and Insa Meinen); and two review articles address important new books and trends on the Holocaust (Jan Grabowski and David Cesarani).
