Until Further Notice…, by Holocaust child survivor and historian Jacob Boas, refers to exemptions temporarily shielding Jews in occupied Holland from deportation. The subtitle, (Theresienstadt on My Mind) broadly alludes to the Holocaust and specifically to plans to ship the author’s family to the so-called Model Camp in Bohemia. Set for the most part in the Netherlands, the book’s overarching theme, spread out over six distinct yet related chapters, is the precarity of decision-making in the face of war, occupation, and persecution.
