ABOUT THE AUTHOR
American-born Rabbi Yehuda Henkin (1945–2020) occupies a central position in the contemporary halachic discourse. He was the grandson and student of the renowned R. Yosef Eliahu Henkin, and held degrees from Columbia University. Following the family's aliya in 1972, Rabbi Henkin was appointed District Rabbi for Israel's Bet Shean Valley.
His was a peerless voice confronting today's Jewish women's issues - fully one third of Rav Henkin's oeuvre focuses on women's issues in Jewish life. His four volumes of responsa, She'elot uTeshuvot Bnei Banim, carry approbations from the generation's luminaries. Rav Henkin was known for his rare originality, intelligence, unswerving honesty, sensitivity, and religious force. He provided rabbinic supervision for hundreds of Yoatzot Halacha over two decades. Rabbi Yehuda and Chana Henkin were the parents of Rav Eitam Henkin, who together with his wife Naama, Hy"d, was murdered by terrorists in 2015.
