Men and Women in the Torah, ten years in the making, follows a unique path in biographical Torah studies. Each biography of a main character consists of three levels: brief summaries, detailed in-depth studies with footnotes and Torah citations, and selected rabbinic perspectives. Here, for the first time, the lives of all persons mentioned in the Torah are described in the order they appear, and in narrative form. Then, narratives are introduced to describe the life of each major personality. Short, fact-filled biographies of persons related to each central character are included as well. Although an Alphabetic Index is provided in the Appendix, organization of the work is not in alphabetical order. Thus, there is no need to search for persons related to the central figures in distant sections of the book.
Men and Women in the Torah is a masterpiece of research and a definitive work on the individuals in the Torah. Its clear narrative will resonate with the novice and its wealth of commentaries will delight the Torah scholar.
