Eliav Shochetman
Professor Eliav Shochetman, recipient of the 2011 Emet Prize, was born in Haifa and studied at both Netiv Meir and Merkaz HaRav Yeshiva in Jerusalem. The Professor fought in both the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War. He holds a law doctorate from Hebrew University. Professor Shochetman teaches at Sha'arei Mishpat law school, where he was formerly the dean. He has been part of the editorial staff of the Institute for Research in Jewish Law since 1982, and his research focuses on Jewish law's application in Israeli law. |
